Ruma Tekau Ma Rua Panui - Room 12 News

Haere Mai - welcome

The year has already had such a great start with so many new and enthusiastic Year 3 and 4 students ready to take on new learning challenges in 2015.

Room 12 has quite a diverse ethnic mix with eighteen nationalities represented:
We have students with backgrounds from Australia, China (and Hong Kong), Denmark, Egypt, France, India, Indonesia,  Korea, Macedonia, Japan, Peru, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Turkey, United Kingdom, Vietnam, and New Zealand.

Today (Monday) we started our homework programme and will be taking our Homework books to and from school every day from Monday to Thursday. Parents MUST sign the book each night to show that the set homework tasks have been done. We have also started to bring our reading books home to read; these should be read at least three times before bringing them back to school - our teacher Mr Watson suggests we read it once when we get home, once after dinner, and once the next morning either before or after (but never during) breakfast!

In class we are also working on our own personal Timelines, focusing on a major event in our own lives each year since we were born. We are working backwards from 2015, and we want each event to be quite different to the others, so maybe our parents can help us think about this and help us record some ideas to use in class.

We also hope that you will become a follower of our class blog to help you become aware of what we are studying and any activities we are doing in the classroom.
